Iveco's Dakar-Will join a line-up of on and off-road Ivecos

Iveco’s Dakar 2014 competing Trakker Evolution 3 – will join a line-up of on and off-road Ivecos when the Commercial Vehicle Show opens its doors on 29 April in Birmingham.

The Trakker Evolution 3 is expected to be one of this year’s hottest exhibits and will appear alongside an on/off-road Euro VI Trakker Hi-Land 8x4 tipper chassis (AT340T41) on the 864m² Iveco stand. The 410 hp production model benefits from the extensive testing conducted by Iveco during the last three Dakar’s, which it has used to confirm the robustness of its vehicles, putting each individual component under extreme stress. The 8x4 will be displayed in the matching Dakar Green paintwork made famous by its 900 hp rally-spec equivalent, as raced by Iveco Petronas De Rooy, which finished Dakar 2014 with three Ivecos in the top 10.

Joining the Trakker on display will be an all-Euro VI line-up of road-going trucks, to highlight FPT Industrial’s high efficiency selective catalytic reduction system, called HI-eSCR, which offers multiple benefits to fleets. These include weight reduction, optimised fuel consumption and increased durability thanks to a less complex, yet highly efficient, technology which meets the new emissions limits via a simplified after-treatment system and without the use of EGR (exhaust gas recirculation).

Representing the flagship Stralis Hi-Way on Iveco’s stand will be a 4x2 tractor unit (AS440S48T/P), with a powerful 480 hp Cursor 11 engine and spacious twin-bunk cab offering the ideal solution for long distance operations onto the Continent. It will be joined by a medium-height Stralis Hi-Road 6x2 twin-steer (AT440S46TX/P) riding on 17.5” tyres, featuring the narrower Hi-Road cab often selected for distribution and fleet operations and a 460 hp Cursor 11 engine.

Completing the truck line-up will be two examples of Iveco’s new Euro VI Eurocargo, which was launched internationally in November 2013. An 18 tonne model (180E25) and a 7.5 tonne model (75E21P) will enable visitors to see examples from both ends of the extensive Eurocargo line-up, equipped with the new FPT Industrial 4.5 litre Tector 5 and 6.7 litre Tector 7 engines respectively.

Also on show will be a special edition Platinum Daily (35S17), designed for owner-drivers looking to combine added style and comfort with one of the best all-round LCVs on the market. It comes with Iveco’s highest tier options pack as standard, which includes – amongst other features – air conditioning with climate control, electric windows, spring-suspended driver’s seat, cornering front fog lights and cruise-control. Striking platinum silver paintwork and a remote-control Clarion NX502E entertainment centre completes the specification, featuring a 6.2” high-resolution display with satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and a reversing camera with rear sensors.

Joining the vehicle exhibits is a standalone 480 hp Cursor 11 engine, allowing visitors complete 360 degree access to see how FPT Industrial’s new Euro VI engine solution expertly follows the same path of technical development as its proven Euro IV, Euro V and EEV-rated engines of previous years.

Iveco staff will also be running a Total Cost of Operation simulation across the three-day Show. This will enable bespoke calculations to be made for individual fleets, comparing the potential fuel-saving of Iveco’s Euro VI tractor units against both a customer’s existing fleet, and Euro VI alternatives from other manufacturers. The simulation will be available upon request.
