Electric Mobility Canada's 5th Annual EV Conference & Tradeshow Is Being Held in Gatineau

Electric Mobility Canada's 5th annual electric vehicle conference and tradeshow (EV2013Vé)—the only national event dedicated to the electrification of transportation—is being held in Gatineau, Que., at the Hilton Lac Leamy hotel October 21-23, and EBMag will be there!

The theme for the 2013 edition is "Accelerating EV Growth", with a focus on strategies to grow the EV market in all forms of surface transportation. With the many models of electric cars that have come onto the market in recent years and the deployment of public charging infrastructure, the way is now clear to encourage consumers to adopt electric transportation, say organizers, and to take up its environmental benefits as well as its long-term financial advantages.

The program will include three plenary sessions on topics of current interest, 11 technical sessions for people in the industry and, of course, a tradeshow open to the general public. Back again this year is the university student competition, which will ask qualified teams from different universities in Canada to analyze and identify the opportunities for growth in electric vehicles in Canada.

Also returning is the OEM Perspectives session: a showcase for manufacturers and distributors of all types of electric vehicles who will present new technologies for EVs they intend to offer to Canadians in the near future.

"This year we hope to repeat the success we have had with the previous editions thanks to the collaboration of all of our partners and all those who are interested in electric mobility in any capacity, and who are committed to promoting the adoption of electric vehicles by consumers and at the commercial level," said Matt Stevens, EMC's chair.

A number of guests have been invited for the plenary sessions, including Joe Oliver, Canada's minister of natural resources, Martine Ouellet, Quebec's minister of natural resources, as well as a senior official from the City of Oslo, Norway.

The tradeshow will give businesses the opportunity to showcase different types of electric vehicles as well as technological advances in components, systems and integrated software for these vehicles.

More than 400 delegates are expected to attend the conference, representing public agencies, car manufacturers, suppliers of parts, components and professional services to the EV industry, provincial and municipal utilities, and fleet managers, as well as other end users and research and training centres.
