Valspar Dismissed 25 Employees in Minneapolis

US-based paints and coatings manufacturer Valspar has dismissed 25 employees in Minneapolis as part of the company's ongoing review of personnel.

The lay off is six percent of the company's 400-person work force in Minneapolis and 0.2% of its total 10,500 employees across the globe.

The workers belong to the corporate, finance and consumer sales units of the company.

Valspar human resources senior vice president Tony Blaine said, "As we continue to grow, we need to access where we deploy resources."

Valspar, which generates about $4bn global revenue, has retail partnerships in England, Ireland, Italy, as well as with Ace Hardware Stores in the US.

Additionally, the company has started upgrading its Minneapolis headquarters building and is planning to reopen it as an R&D center in May 2014.
