Next Generation Luminaires Solid-State Lighting Indoor Design Competition

INDOOR COMPETITION INTENT-TO-SUBMIT

DEADLINE EXTENDED!

The 2013 Next Generation Luminaires Solid-State Lighting Indoor Design Competition has officially launched! Written Intents to Submit are due by January 25, 2013, and must be submitted online at ngldc.org.

Physical product entries are due by February 8, 2013. Judging takes place in late February 2013, and results will be announced at LEDucation 7 in New York, NY, on March 20, 2013.

WHAT’S NEW FOR 2013

In addition to market-ready product entries, new categories for emerging and innovative products have been added. These categories encourage new ideas for the application of SSL to solve lighting design problems. The emerging categories, including OLEDs, color tuning luminaires, and material integrated systems, will be evaluated separately.

WHAT IS NGL?

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), NGL recognizes and promotes excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED commercial lighting luminaires, based on the market’s critical concerns about product performance and quality.

HOW NGL WORKS

Judges examine lighted samples in their intended applications, as well as photometric analyses and other documentation. Products will be reviewed on criteria such as color quality, light distribution, glare control, appearance, energy efficiency, and serviceability. Products meeting the judges’ diverse criteria are recognized, and from this group additional awards are given.

RECOGNITION FOR WINNERS

Awards are presented to all distinguished products, and the results—including manufacturers’ identities, product descriptions, testing details, and judging comments—are published by NGL online and publicized at industry events around the country.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

To participate, please review the NGL website for competition rules and forms. There is no fee for participation or limit on the number of products entered.
