Taiwan LED firms report falling total September revenues Siu Han, Taipei; Jackie Chang, DIGITIMES [Monday 15 October 2012] The total revenues of Taiwan-based LED firms in September 2012 were NT$9.27 billion (US$317 million), down by 2.28% on month but up by 13% on year, according to market watchers.

Global sales of TVs, notebooks, and monitors have been down, affecting LED backlight orders, hence total September output showed an on-month decrease compared to August. Meanwhile, LCD TV sales in China during the October 1 long holidays were been better than expected which is likely to help lower inventory levels, said the watchers.

China's domestic TV brands such as TCL, Skyworth, Changhong, and Hisense saw sales during the October 1 holidays grow by 17-22% on year. Konka and Haier saw sales increase close to 10% on year during the period, according to estimates.

In September 2012, total revenues reported by LED chipmakers that are listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) were NT$3.93 billion, representing an on-month decrease of 4.2%. LED packaging houses reported a total September revenues of NT$5.35 billion, showing a slight on-month decrease of 0.82%.
