Linpac, Parkside Team up to Enhance Shelf Appeal of Evolve Rigid VSP Trays

Paper packaging manufacturer Linpac, in collaboration with print partner Parkside Flexibles, has developed a variety of designs for its Rfresh Evolve rigid Vacuum Skin Packaging (VSP) trays to enhance shelf appeal.

Manufactured from up to 95% rPET, the tray will feature designs such as grass, kraft paper, wood or slate-look which will are printed by Parkside and laminated during the thermoforming process.

Linpac said that the designs are intended to tap into the current trend for natural looking and premium packs.

Linpac group marketing manager Nikki Clark said: “As well as being eye-catching the trays offer retailers flexibility in differentiating and tiering fresh meat ranges.

“Evolve trays can be displayed horizontally, vertically, shingled or hung and are available in three application styles – normal, protruding and super-protruding - to present meat products in the most attractive way possible.”

The rigid VSP trays are designed to offer extended shelf life for packers and retailers while allowing them to reduce food waste, supply chain efficiency and increase sales.

Compatible with all vacuum films, the Rfresh Evolve trays are cleaned by Linpac and can be used on all suitably modified tray-sealing machines, the company said.

Clark added: “Partnering with Parkside on this project has allowed us to innovate one of our core products in order to improve its relevance to future market trends.”

Featuring barrier skin film, the trays will also provide flexibility of supply for packers without being locked in to a material or machinery manufacturer. It is also designed to provide fewer leakages and returns.
