Bosch Packaging Technology India has opened its new Rs340m (€5m) manufacturing facility in the Indian state Goa. The plant was built on 33,000m2 land and has current annual production capacity of 200 machines which is expected to double in three years.
According to Bosch, the Goa plant will increase localization of new packaging machine production and make German technology available to the Indian market. It will also bring Bosch's new global offerings to the country.
Bosch managing director Viswanathan said the facility will generate good growth and employment opportunities for the people of Goa.
"Bosch sees India and the South Asia region as a high potential market for Packaging Technology particularly in the Pharmaceuticals and Foods segments," Viswanathan added.
At present, the Indian subsidiary employs directly 130 associates, and the next three years will see the increase in number by 30 to about 160, with the new facility opening, Bosch said.
