Cree Reaches 276 Lumens Per Watt Record

Cree has achieved an industry-best efficacy record of 276 lumens per watt for a white power LED.

The figure, exceeds the LED manufacturer’s previous industry record of 254 lm/W, and was reached at a correlated colour temperature of 4401K and 350 mA.

Norbert Hiller, Cree’s senior vice president responsible for the LED components business, made public the results of the company’s development trial at the 2013 Strategies in Light conference (held on February 12-14 in Santa Clara, US).

The company said Cree’s SC³ Technology Platform in Cree XLamp LEDs had enabled the R&D result.

In May 2011, Lighting reported on Cree achieving 231 lm/W for a white power LED. The company broke the 200 lm/W barrier in 2010.
