AR Packaging Will Invest €3m in The Newly Acquired Plants

AR Packaging will invest €3m in the newly acquired plants at Krakow in Poland and Graz in Austria.

With the investment at the two facilities, the German company is expecting to strengthen its foothold in the European packaging markets.

AR Packaging has recently completed the acquisition of MeadWestvaco's European tobacco, chocolate confectionery and general packaging operations. It has acquired three plants in Graz, Krakow, and Moscow. Certain additional carton business and related machinery in Svitavy, Czech Republic were also purchased.

The transaction was closed in April, and the businesses were consolidated on 1 May. The new assets are operating under the A&R Carton brand.

The company will expand the plant in Krakow and modernize the machinery at Graz plant.

AR Packaging was formed in 2011 with the merger of packaging group A&R Carton and Flextrus, a flexible packaging firm. AR reported a turnover of about €550m and employs 2,300 people in 17 factories across nine countries.
