Taiwan IC Designers Are High for Its September Figures to Top Over The NT$274 Million

Taiwan-based IC design houses including Macroblock, Nuvoton Technology, On-Bright Electronics, Pixart Imaging and Weltrend Semiconductor all expect to post sequential growth in September revenues, buoyed by a pull-in of orders coming from the LED lighting, games console and server sectors, according to industry sources.

The steep price reduction of LED bulbs has brought a boom to the LED lighting industry in China, benefiting LED driver IC vendors such as On-Bright and Macroblock, noted the sources.

On-Bright has seen its revenues hit record high for six consecutive months since March 2013, and the prospects are high for its September figures to top over the NT$274 million (US$9.27 million) posted in August, the sources indicated.

Macroblock is expected to see its revenues rally over 30% sequentially to more than NT$230 million in September, buoyed by orders from signage board clients in China, revealed the sources.

Opportunity is also high for Pixart Imaging to post revenues of over NT$500 million in September thanks to sensor orders from Nintendo for its Wii U games consoles, while Global Unichip and Champion Microelectronic will also perform strongly in the month driven by orders from Microsoft for its Xbox One devices, said the sources.

Server management solution provider Aspeed Technology has landed new orders from tier-2 server makers, which will help the company maintain its sales momentum in September as well as in the fourth quarter, the sources disclosed.
