Commercial Property Owners Are Slow to React to The Advancing Technology of LED Lighting

Commercial property owners are too slow to react to the rapidly advancing technology of LED lighting, according to one expert.

Chris Gunn, of commercial property developer Acorn Limited, said that a number of commercial property owners - including residential landlords, commercial landlords, and those who manage retail premises - need to be faster to introduce outdoor lights as well as internal systems that utilise the no-longer-fledgling technology.

"My experience with our clients has convinced me that where LED technology is used appropriately in commercial buildings it can deliver significant energy and cost savings," said Chris.

"We've been designing, installing, upgrading and retrofitting commercial lighting systems for many years now as well as providing the energy management systems that can accurately measure the resulting energy savings. That's how we know first hand that LED upgrades really do deliver the goods."

LED light bulbs offer a host of advantages to those who are building or managing commercial properties. While the initial outlay is a little higher than buying CFL (compact fluorescent) bulbs, LED lights will last a minimum of 20 years and offer significant savings over the course of their lifetime.

In addition, they emit less heat (meaning they don't attract bugs and moths during the summer) and actually light a larger area than many traditional bulbs they are replacing. That's why councils and car park operators are adopting the technology in such numbers.

And that's also why homeowners are turning towards the technology, especially in light of recent announcements by a number of members of the Big Six energy monopoly that look to raise electricity and gas prices over the winter. Lighting your house affordably is now more important than ever, but thankfully there are bulbs available for every area of your home.

While the bathroom and kitchen are the ideal place to install flush ceiling lights with LED bulbs, don't forget your outdoor space: LED garden lights can also illuminate outside your house for less.
