Italy's long steel output amounted to 1.073 million metric tons in March this year, down 14.8 percent year on year, according to the Italian steel producers association Federacciai. Accordingly, domestic long steel output recorded another double-digit year-on-year decrease in March after the last double-digit decline seen in October 2012, while in the intervening months the year-on-year decrease rate of production was slower.
In the first quarter this year, Italian long steel output fell 8.9 percent compared to the same period of 2012, declining to 2.912 million metric tons, and was also below the output volumes recorded in the corresponding period in 2011 and 2010.
