Ilva Demanded The Immediate Return of Seized Steel Products From Local Prosecutors

Taranto-based Italian steel producer Ilva has demanded the immediate return of seized steel products from local prosecutors following the rejection by Italy's Constitutional Court of efforts by prosecutors to shut down the company's plant. Lawyers for Ilva demanded the return of the products seized by the authorities last November as part of the struggle being played out over the future of the Taranto facillities. Ilva president Bruno Ferrante said the court ruling has given the plant new life. "I view with great satisfaction the decision of the Constitutional Court, which allows us to look to the future with confidence and hope," he stated.

Mr. Ferrante said that, even with the court victory, Ilva remains committed to meeting all environmental measures ordered by Italian authorities as well as European authorities. "We have the duty and the will to implement all provisions, to safeguard jobs and business but also the environment and public health," he said.
