More Than 4,250 Overseas Buyers Visited The Fair During The First Three Days, EPCH

The 34th edition of the Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair (IHGF-Autumn 2012), held in Greater Noida near New Delhi, attracted over 5,000 overseas buyers, including more than 550 buyers from the US, who visited the four-day fair on last day, Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) said.
 
More than 4,250 overseas buyers visited the fair during the first three days, EPCH, the organizer of the mega B2B event said.
 
EPCH Executive Director Rakesh Kumar said around 2,400 participants' showcased about 950 product assortments at the fair.
 
He said the fair is believed to have done good business, surpassing the Rs. 10 billion target originally set by the Council.
 
During the first half of the current fiscal, India exported handicrafts worth Rs. 76.944 billion, a 36.21 percent more than goods worth Rs. 56.488 billion exported the during same period last year. In dollar terms, the Council's exports grew by 13.14 percent from US$ 12.457 million to US$ 14.094 million. This has raised EPCH's optimism of achieving the Rs. 155 billion export target set for current fiscal.

As a flagship event of EPCH, IHGF is organized two times every year in February and October as IHGF-Spring and IHGF-Autumn, respectively.
