Academics and Industry Experts From Taiwan Announced Five"Smart Lighting System Standards"

Academics and industry experts from Taiwan announced five"Smart Lighting System Standards"on August 14.This is the first common standard for Taiwan's lighting system industry.

 

According to Roland Chiang,director of Delta Electronics'Solid-state Lighting Business Unit,Taiwan has been leading in smart lighting system standards and a common standard can also help firms integrate technology,costs and safety in the China operations which is likely to affect smart lighting systems in China.

 

The different standards in smart lighting systems have been creating problems in maintenance and upgrades,said industry sources.

 

The Industrial Technology Research Institute(ITRI)noted that the establishment of smart lighting system standards will first be adopted by various counties when procuring upgrades.The system can automatically detect,and report any maintenance issues or failures.

 

According to the Executive Yuan in Taiwan,the 2012 budget for switching to LED street lamps is NT$2.768 billion(US$92 million).The government plans to install 320,000 LED street lamps and pushing the penetration rate from 2%in 2011 to 13%in 2012.
