Huntsman Invests RM 275 Million in Upgrading Its TiO2 Manufacturing Facilities

US based, Huntsman Corp, a global producer of specialist chemicals said it is investing RM 275 million in upgrading its titanium dioxide (TiO2) manufacturing facilities in Terengganu, Malaysia.

"This investment includes introducing new energy-efficient technology which would help develop a zero-waste model,” Paul Hulme, President at Huntsman's Textile Effects division, told media persons.

"We see growth potential for both our business and Malaysia, mainly due to the strong infrastructure, technological advancement and vast talent pool," he said.

Earlier, Dr Rebecca Fatima Maria, secretary-general at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry inaugurated Huntsman’s new Malaysian office built at a cost of RM 7 million.

The centre houses 200 employees from Huntsman's global information technology (IT), internal audit, accounting shared services and treasury departments.

Hulme said the new office would serve as Huntsman’s primary IT hub as well as a centre for accounting shared services.

According to Rebecca Fatima, Huntsman expansion in Malaysia was a strong indication of the country’s good infrastructure, comparable to other countries in Southeast Asia. (AR)
