LED packaging house Unity Opto Technology has reported consolidated revenues of NT$614 million (US$20.5 million) for July, increasing 1.75% sequentially but decreasing 21.75% on year. Consolidated revenues for January-July grew 19.09% to NT$4.337 billion.
Demand for LED backlights from LCD TV vendors has decreased, Unity Opto indicated. However, Unity Opto began volume production of LED backlights used in touch panels for tablets and notebooks in July and expects monthly shipments to increase in August and September. In addition to backlights, Unity Opto has obtained certification for new models of LED street lamps and will start shipments soon, the company said.
Fellow maker Lextar Electronics has reported consolidated revenues of NT$1.320 billion for July, growing 2.31% sequentially and 43.02% on year. Consolidated sales for January-July reached NT$8.035 billion, up 40.30% on year.
