Borealis Has Announced The Launch of a New PP Grade for Packaging Pail Producers

Austrian provider of chemical and plastics solutions Borealis has announced the launch of a new polypropylene (PP) grade, Bormod BH381MO to support manufacturers of industrial packaging pails in meeting their growing sustainability goals.

According to the company, the new heterophasic copolymer Bormod BH381MO, which has a melt flow rate (MFR) of 35, uses Borealis Nucleation Technology (BNT) to achieve a balance of stiffness, flow and impact.

The PP grade's stiffness level of 1700 MPa is more than 150 MPa higher than standard MFR 30 grades. The grade supports de-molding, which creates a spectrum of productivity and associated environmental related advantages for converters.

The converters can achieve a reduction between 10-20% in cycle time with shorter cooling times, and energy, cost savings through low temperature processing and low injection pressures.

Bormod BH381MO is suitable for other packaging applications including thin walled packaging, houseware and transport packaging, besides containers and pails for food, paint, DIY and other consumables.
