Turkey's Steel Imports Decreased by 9.8 Percent to 7.75 Million Mt

In the first seven months of the current year, Turkey's steel imports decreased by 9.8 percent to 7.75 million mt, while the value of these imports fell 8.1 percent to $6.87 billion, both on year-on-year basis, according to the data released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). In the given period, Turkey's slab imports decreased by 36.1 percent to 808,000 mt, while its flat steel imports totaled 3.78 million mt, down 10.4 percent, long steel imports amounted to 862,000 mt, up 3.6 percent, and steel pipe imports decreased by 14 percent to 231,000 mt, all on year-on-year basis.

On the other hand, in July alone, Turkey's steel imports decreased by 25.6 percent year on year to 1.03 million mt, while the value of these imports totaled $926 million, down 22.3 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the given month, Turkey's slab imports decreased by 53.6 percent to 132,000 mt, its flat steel imports declined by 22.3 percent to 482,000 mt, its long steel imports decreased by 2.9 percent to 118,000 mt and its steel pipe imports totaled 25,000 mt, down 47.8 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
