Philips Noted That The Luminance of OLED Lighting in 2013 May Reach 4,300CD/M2

OLED lighting has been entering volume production and Philips is currently showcasing Lumiblade OLED lighting products at LED Lighting Taiwan 2013.

Philips noted that the luminance of OLED lighting in 2013 may reach 4,300cd/m2 while brightness efficiency increases to 45-60lm/W. The firm believes that OLED indoor lighting and lighting fixtures may take off in 2014.

Currently, Philips' OLED panel lighting varies in sizes from 4 by 4cm to 12 by 12cm. In addition, prices also vary with sizes. Philips plans to increase OLED lighting brightness efficiency to 90lm/W and luminance to 5,000cd/m2, lifespan to 20,000 hours and size to 17 by 17cm in 2015. The firm is also scheduled to increase OLED lighting brightness efficiency to 130lm/W, luminance to 6,500cd/m2, lifespan to 40,000 hours, and size to 40 by 40cm in 2018.

According to Mun Fai Kuan, director of Business Creation (Asia) at Philips, in the past OLED lighting was mainly used decoratively in commercial areas, but recently there have been enterprises adopting OLED lighting as indoor lighting for meeting rooms.
