HKScan Has Announced Plans to Invest in New Production Facilities

Finland-based meat specialist HKScan has announced plans to invest in new production facilities in western Finland and Rakvere, Estonia.

The proposed facility in western Finland will see an investment ranging from €35-65m, while the Rakvere facility will benefit from €20m.

HKScan said that it will review whether to renovate and expand the existing Eura facility or whether to build a new plant in a different location in western Finland.

The company will upgrade its chicken slaughtering, cutting and production processes to produce new products as per customer requirements.

Meanwhile, the company plans to build a new 10,000m2 production facility alongside its existing plant in Rakvere.

The proposed Rakvere plant will be equipped with advanced technology suited to produce value-added products, especially a new brand Flodins.

Planning phase at the new plant in Rakvere is scheduled to run through spring 2015.

HKScan's Rakvere unit currently has pork and beef slaughtering and cutting operations, meat processing facilities, and a logistics center serving all of company's Estonian operations.

The new projects will allow HKScan to streamline its production structure, integrate its technology and thereby improving operational efficiency.
