A Small Team of Scottish Toy Manufacturers Will Meet with The Bigwigs John Lewis This Week

The Scottish team will travel to London HQ to pitch its latest word game for children and adults.

A small team of Scottish toy manufacturers will meet with the bigwigs John Lewis this week, having won the chance to pitch their latest game to the department store.

Blankgame from Killin in Perthshire is one of 12 companies selected from almost 700 entrants in a competition run by John Lewis to support British innovation.

The firm will travel to London in order to show off its new product titled Blanks, in which players are challenged to achieve the highest score by creating words and filling in blank spaces with letters.

As one of 12 finalists, Blankgame will receive mentoring from John Lewis with a view to having their products stocked in stores across the country.

"We have only just started approaching retailers, so we were absolutely amazed to be picked by John Lewis,” Angela Ramsay of Blankgame told ToyNews.

"We are in a few lovely independent toy shops including Langleys in Norwich, The Halesworth Toyshop, Giddy Goat Toys and The Red Balloon Toy Shop.

"Our aim was to make a top quality game that would be great fun for both kids and adults and last for generations.”

The company has already scooped a business award from ex-Dragon’s Den star Theo Paphitis and Blank has been chosen as one of the Top 10 British made buys by British Family.

"Being selected by John Lewis in the face of some very tough competition is a dream come true,” added Ramsay.
