Italian Dairy Firm Selects Elopak's Carbon Neutral Cartons

Italian dairy firm Centrale del Latte d’Italia has selected Elopak’s carbon neutral cartons for its fresh milk products.

The dairy firm has introduced its fresh milk products from regional brands Latte Tigullio and Tappoross in one litre and 500ml carbon neutral Pure-Pak cartons.

Elopak has designed 11 new carbon neutral Pure-Pak cartons for the Latte Tigullio and Tapporosso brands, which are available in various sizes.

Full and half skimmed milk are available in 500ml and one litre Pure-Pak cartons, and skimmed milk is packed in 500ml cartons.

The cartons come with closures that offer better opening and reclosing options.

Centrale del Latte d’Italia sales and marketing director Marco Luzzati said: “As a food producer we are increasingly aware of consumer interest in the carbon footprint of product manufacturing processes and packaging.

“As with industries and economies across the world, the goal of carbon neutrality throughout our entire supply chain is a major part of our overall environmental strategy – and Elopak has enabled us to make a huge leap with our shared carbon neutral vision.”

Elopak produces Pure-Pak cartons in different variants, including Pure-Pak Sense, Pure-Pak Classic and Pure-Pak Diamond.

Pure-Pak Sense and Pure-Pak Classic cartons can be used for fresh and aseptic products, while Pure-Pak Diamond carton can be used for fresh and high acid aseptic products.

In October 2016, Centrale del Latte d’Italia was established by merging Centrale del Latte di Firenze, Pistoia e Livorno and Centrale del Latte di Torino.

With core operations in the Piemonte, Liguria, Tuscany and Veneto regions, the group is said to have an aggregated turnover of about €180m.
