Methanol Prices Decreases

Methanex, the world’s largest producer and supplier of methanol to major international markets, has decreased its regional contract price for all the regions—Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America—for February 2015 contracts.

For the Asia-Pacific region, Methanex has decreased its Asian posted contract price for February 1-28 to US$ 315/mt, compared to January 2015 contract price of $355/mt.

Similarly, for the European region, Methanex has decreased its posted contract price for February 1-28 to €339/mt, from the earlier announced price of €354/mt for the January-March 2015 quarter.

For the North American region, Methanex has decreased its non-discounted reference price for February 1-28 to $1.25/Gal or $416/mt (converted to $/mt using a conversion rate of 332.6 Gal per mt) from January’s price of $1.35/Gal or $449/mt.

Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, is a clear liquid chemical that is water soluble and readily biodegradable. It is used to produce other chemical derivatives, which in turn are used to produce everyday products, including polyester, foams and resins.
