German Particleboard Imports and Exports Have Fallen Short of Last Year's Figures

German particleboard imports and exports have fallen short of last year’s figures across the board between January and March. Imports dropped more than exports. A foreign trade surplus emerged for raw particleboard due to the sharp decline in imports; the deficit for melamine-faced board has at least narrowed. Preliminary figures from the Federal Statistical Office show that raw particleboard imports into Germany plunged 34 % to 178,651 m3 in the first quarter. This slump was seen equally among all key suppliers. On the other hand, Germany’s main markets for melamine-faced particleboard experienced contrasting fortunes. On the whole, melamine-faced particleboard imports were down 5 % at 230,954 m3.
