Glossop Cartons Acquires Contact Print and Packaging

British carton board packaging firm Glossop Cartons has acquired Contact Print and Packaging for an undisclosed sum.

Glossop Cartons Acquires Contact Print and Packaging

Founded in 1992, Contact Print and Packaging employs 54 people at the Stockport site, which boasts three purpose-built production and warehouse units with an artwork studio that uses digital workflow technologies.

Contact Print & Packaging, a subsidiary of Contact Holdings, prints and produces folding cartons, in addition to providing packaging supply chain solutions to blue-chip organizations in the UK and internationally.

As part of the acquisition, Glossop will transfer its operations from its current site in Padfield, Derbyshire to Contact Print and Packaging's facility in Stockport, Cheshire, by this year end.

This will provide Glossop with improved transport links and larger premises with a superior layout, which will allow the company to fully use its conventional and digital packaging capabilities to cater to UK and global brands.

Glossop Cartons sales director Jacky Sidebottom-Every said: "Contact Print's reputation as a leading specialist in packaging is unrivalled, and its new state-of-the-art production facilities are well recognised by its clients within the food, pharmaceutical, beverage and gifting sectors.

"Contact Print and Packaging has BRC and Pharmaceutical accreditation along with ISO 9001 and Glossop Cartons has ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001. Together, we'll have the required standards to produce packaging for all sectors with confidence and with the ethical standards to back up our manufacturing processes going forward."

Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking has backed the deal by providing a loan to support the purchase of Contact Print and Packaging's premises.

The bank's Commercial Finance team also provided an asset finance facility to fund Glossop Cartons' purchase of printing machinery used at the site.

Glossop Cartons recently launched a new digital personalization service for the packaging industry.

Said to be the first of its type in the UK, the new Personalised Packaging service is claimed to allow the use of bespoke elements such as graphics, images, copy and artwork to make the packaging appealing directly to consumers.
