Pregis Opens New Manufacturing Unit in Mexico to Cater to Automotive, Agriculture Sectors

US-based protective packaging firm Pregis has opened a new manufacturing unit in Chihuahua, Mexico, to cater to automotive, consumer electronics, agriculture and aerospace sectors.

The new facility will produce Astro-Foam polyethylene sheet foam and PolyPlank closed-cell polyethylene plank foam.

Pregis president and CEO Kevin Baudhuin said: "Mexico is experiencing significant growth in the manufacturing and fulfillment sectors.

"As a North American leader in providing protective packaging solutions, Pregis is in a unique position to supply the quality and inventory required to support these businesses. The facility's location also makes it ideally-suited to supplement supply needs in the southern US."

With its dedicated sales team to man the unit, the company will tap the demand side in Mexico. It is also looking for opportunities in the country to help high-volume enterprises enhance output efficiencies and cut down floor space for storing protective packaging inventories.

Recently, the company has put in place next generation of foam-in-place (FIP) technology based on intelligent interface, called Maxwell.

Maxwell, with its personalized touchscreen for company objectives and unlimited barcoding, helps consumer add photographs and video files for ensuring correct placement of FIP bags for a particular product.
