DS Smith's Rapak Introduces New Durabev Beverage Bags

DS Smith’s plastic business unit Rapak North America has introduced new DuraBev beverage bags for bag-in-box (BIB) packaging formats.

The company has designed new packaging solution for BIB applications such as post-mix syrup and juices.

Available in different sizes and bag fitments, DuraBev uses embossed film technology that enables to improve more evacuation performance than standard post-mix bags.

According to DS Smith, the advanced structure of DuraBev offers a durable and puncture resistant product that can survive a 40” drop test.

Rapak will exhibit DuraBev at the Beverage Dispensing Equipment Association (IBDEA) conference in the US.

The event will take place from 9 to 13 March in Orlando, Florida.

Rapak also produces Strivo twist lock bag-in-box connecting system for dispensing liquid foods.

The simple connect, twist and firm lock functionality of the new fitment offers ease of use and makes connecting bag-in-box bags to dispensing equipment simple, efficient and leak free, the company said.

The easy to clean and sanitize one piece construction is suitable for higher viscosity liquids such as smoothie bases, fruit purees and other similar food products under FDA and EU regulations.

Rapak, which is part of DS Smith’s plastics’ flexible packaging segment, carries out operations in North America, Europe, Asia and Australasia.

DS Smith’s plastic division produces flexible packaging and dispensing solutions, rigid packaging and foam products.
