Skyworth Aims to Sell 200,000 OLED TVs in 2016

China TV vendor Skyworth aims to sell 200,000 OLED TVs in 2016, the company stated at a recent OLED forum in Shenzhen, China. Most of the TVs are expected to have HDR technology, Ultra HD (4K) resolution and come equipped with OLED panels from LG Display.

LG Display in fact is aiming to increase cooperation with China vendors and is expected to drop OLED pricing significantly in 2016 following mass production developments for 4K OLED TV displays.

Industry sources also noted that LG Electronics will greatly increase its OLED lineup in 2016 and begin an advertising campaign around the 2016 Super Bowl.

Meanwhile, LG Display will ship approximately 400,000-500,000 OLED TV panels in 2015 and over one million in 2016 as pricing drops as a result of increased yields, according to Korea-based Digital Daily.

However, the shipment target is less than the originally 600,000 estimated shipments in 2015 and 1.5 million in 2016 due to high costs that have prevented vendors from promoting the technology as part of their mainstream lineups.
