Sony to Launch Two New Xperia Phones at Mwc 2017?

Last year, during MWC, Sony unveiled its latest attempt to conquer the smartphone market in the form of the Xperia X and Xperia XA.

Unfortunately, in a year that saw the launch of the stellar Galaxy S7 and HTC 10, the Xperia phones failed to wow the public.

But Sony isn't giving up, it seems, as two new handsets have been spotted at the Eurasian Economic Commission (via PhoneArena) with the model numbers G3112 and G3121.

It looks like Sony is preparing to unveil two new handsets at MWC 2017, then, if the model numbers are anything to go by.

Previously, the company unveiled the Xperia Z5 at MWC 2015 with the model number E6603, followed by the Xperia X last year, which appeared with the number F5121.

As such, it looks like it's time for the "G" series models to debut in Februrary 2017, when Mobile World Congress gets underway.

The Xperia X was an underwhelming offering from Sony

Unfortunately, there's no further details on the handsets, and, as usual, we have no way of knowing for certain whether these model numbers refer to new Xperia handsets.

Sony current offers the Xperia XA, Xperia X, Xperia X Compact and Xperia XZ, and we're hoping the newly spotted model numbers mean the firm has simplified things this time around.

The flagship Xperia X comes with a 5-inch Full HD display, along with a 23-megapixel camera, 3GB RAM and either a Snapdragon 650 or 820 processor.

Despite some respectable specs, however, the phone was somewhat of a disappointment, with an unambitious design and mid-range performance.

We're sure Sony will be looking to up its game this time around, however, so stay tuned for more as MWC 2017 approaches.
