Metsa Board Presents Natural Paperboards at Luxe Pack Monaco 2015

At Luxe Pack Monaco 2015, Metsa Board showed its natural paperboards made for packaging luxury products sustainably, while enhancing brand values.

Its versatile range includes products especially developed for the addition of special features that attract the eye, as well as security devices important for anti-counterfeiting. Metsa Board also presented its litholamination portfolio, gathering together all its paperboards that produce the finest results using this technology for high end packaging.

Metsa Board beautycare commercial director Christophe Baudry said: "The packaging of a luxury item is as vital as the content it is protecting and showcasing. It must provide an aura of prestige. Purchasing premium products is an emotive process - there is a sensorial ritual between the consumer and the packaging. At the same time, we find consumers are increasingly looking for natural products, so brand owners need to consider packaging that complements that desire."

On show were Metsa Board's sustainable and lightweight folding boxboards especially developed for beautycare, fragrances, chocolate and confectionery as well as other premium applications. They include Carta Allura, Carta Elega, Carta Integra, Carta Solida and Avanta Prima, all made from traceable fresh forest fibres that ensure purity, brightness and strength. This range enables the highest quality print and special effects as well as a smart, crisp finish.

Metsa Board's litholamination portfolio includes Carta Selecta, designed for eye-catching applications with UV varnish, and Modo Northern Light Litho, ideal for small lightweight packs when excellent printability is required. The offering is complemented with Carta Solida and Kemiart Graph+, as well as uncoated Modo Northern Light, ideal for when a more natural appearance and a special tactile feel are required.

"Litholamination is becoming more and more popular as a way of combining the strength of corrugated with excellent print values," says Christophe Baudry. "It's ideal for short runs for special promotions or limited editions, for example, for premium spirits and liqueurs that demand commemorative and highly protective boxes. In contrast, by using Modo Northern Light Litho liner combined with the uncoated grade as fluting, it's possible to achieve corrugated strength in an all-white, super-light package."

The additional value that Metsa Board's Packaging Services can bring to using its paperboards was also introduced. The services include global insights, design services and packaging solutions that complement and enhance the company's premium paperboard materials. The main focus is to create, develop and blend structural packaging and graphic design together to maximise brand recognition and positioning.
