SCA in Schools Has Been a Business and Social Imperative for Cardiac Science

Fighting sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in schools has been a business and social imperative for Cardiac Science since the company's founding. The reason is clear: Studies show that one in 50 high schools has had a SCA incident–either student or faculty–on school grounds each year–according to Parent Heart Watch, a CPR/AED Advocacy Group.

An important ally in this fight is School Health Corporation, a leading distributor of health supplies and equipment to schools, colleges and universities in the United States. School Health recently honored Cardiac Science with the prestigious Top Partner of the Year award. The award recognizes a partner for support, service and assistance to the School Health organization. Cardiac Science was selected from a field of more than 600 suppliers.

This is the fourth consecutive year Cardiac Science has earned the award.

"Cardiac Science is humbled to receive this honor once again from School Health," said Al Ford, Cardiac Science General Manager and Senior Vice President of Sales / Marketing. "As a result of this partnership, the lives of numerous young people have been saved and awareness about the importance of AEDs in schools and the community has increased significantly."

"School Health is proud to recognize Cardiac Science for their continued passion and dedication toward creating heart safe environments for our customers and their students, athletes and employees," said Susan Rogers, President of School Health Corporation. "It is our commitment to educate customers on the importance of having these lifesaving devices readily available in our school systems and having all persons properly trained on the use of AEDs and CPR."

"In a business world where partnerships often come and go as quickly as the weather, it is truly remarkable what we have built together over the past eight years. This recognition once again reinforces how strongly we feel about our future together and is a strong testament to the deep relationships and teamwork shared among the field teams of both Cardiac Science and School Health," said Ed Kennedy, Cardiac Science Vice President of Distribution for the Americas. "Together we are making a meaningful difference."
