Tea & Coffee Company Implemented The Dataflex Plus Thermal Transfer Overprinter Technology

Tea & Coffee Company has implemented the DataFlex Plus Thermal Transfer Overprinter (TTO) technology from ink jet systems manufacturer Videojet in its packaging line.

The new system is claimed to have helped the company in reducing the in-line stops, downtime and storage space.

DataFlex Plus comes with a graphical interface and color touchscreen that helps in entering the label information, icon-based controls and a WYSIWYG image display to reduce downloading and entry errors.

Tea & Coffee senior packaging operator Butch Foster said before implementing the DataFlex Plus, the firm had to order and store multiple rolls of prefinished film.

"Every time we wanted to package a different coffee, it was a minimum of 30 minutes to find the right film and install it in the form, fill, seal machine," Foster added.

"Now we only have two films, one with our logo and one generic where we use the DataFlex Plus to print our coffee type and sizes and the changeover takes 30 seconds."

The installation is part of the company's plan to update its printing and coding techniques for its products.
