Covestro Polyaspartic Technology for Durable Industrial and Decorative Concrete Floors

Polyaspartic coatings have long protected industrial applications such as bridges and water and wastewater infrastructure. Increasingly, commercial building professionals and architects are discovering that under that protective skin is a high degree of aesthetics…and even beauty.

As a result, polyaspartic coatings have migrated into decorative flooring. With flexible formulations that feature high solid, low viscosity resins that reduce the need for solvents, polyaspartic technology is also useful in meeting environmental regulations and LEED standards.

Additionally, current commercial systems provide fast return-to-service, higher film build, lower volatile organic compound (VOC) content and odor, ease of use, and long-term aesthetics. Polyaspartic coating technology is also known for excellent UV, chemical and abrasion resistance; ultra-low VOCs; color stability; and, cleanability.

Covestro scientists will discuss polyaspartic technology and real-world case studies during their presentation, “Polyaspartic floor coatings industry trends, developments, application and real-world examples” at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7 during the 2015 Polyurethanes Technical Conference in Orlando, Florida. Paper authors are Steven Reinstadtler, marketing manager of Coatings – Construction Group and Sustainability; and Peg Kendi, application and technology development manager, Coatings, Adhesives & Specialties, both of Covestro.
