BMW Is Recalling X5 Suvs Worldwide to Fix a Belt Idler Pulley Bolt Inside The Engine

German automobile manufacturer BMW has announced to recall 250,000 X5 SUVs worldwide to fix a belt idler pulley bolt inside the engine which result in loss of power assited steering.

The recall will involve X5 xDrive 35d models with diesel engines for the model year 2009 through 2012

The problem was detected during a warranty claim process and needs more effort to control the vehicle in the case of occurrence of the problem.

Earlier, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had said that the belt idler pulley bolt can get loose and break which can pose the risk of crash due to sudden loss of power-assisted steering.

The company however claimed tha no crashes or injuries have been reported in the US and Canada due to the fault.

BMW will recall 29,800 X5s in the US, 5,500 vehicles in Canada and remaining vehicles will be recalled around the world.

The automaker will notify the buyers in January and the dealers will fix the problem so that it won't losen up.

The company has issued multiple recalls on the BMW X5 SUVs due to other repairs like suspension issues, hydraulic brake problems, fuel pump defects, and transmission troubles.

BMW has a series of SUVs including the BMW X6, the BMW X3, and the recent 2013 BMW X5 which features an 8-speed automatic transmission and an inline 6-cylinder engine.
