Wolverhampton City Council to Save £3.4m with Agresso Erp Solution

Wolverhampton City Council has announced it will save £3.4m over the next two years by selecting UNIT 4's Agresso Local Government ERP platform.

Underpinning the council's five-year "FutureWorks" modernisation programme - which is set to cost £7.8m in total - Agresso will support finance, human resources, payroll and procurement at the council.

The council hopes that "costs will be recovered within three years" of the UNIT 4 system going live.

IT service provider Agilisys, which was awarded the FutureWorks contract in April this year, said that Wolverhampton's mainframe architecture has "remained largely unchanged for 20 years".

Cabinet member for resources Councillor Andrew Johnson explained how, while its current "outdated systems" are mainly used only for internal support services, the impact of those systems is wider because they lie behind many front-line services, including refuse collection and schools and academies across the city.

"The new platform will play an important part in successfully transforming our business processes and systems, leading to more efficient services and delivering better value for money," said Johnson.
