Thermochromatic Lamp Created by Martin Saemmer Changes Color

Created by Martin Saemmer, the Thermochromatic lamp changes color when the lamp shades special thermochromatic textile’s surrounding temperature rises. Created in cooperaton with Gallery PLUSDESIGN based in Milan, the lamp itself is created out of aluminum, steel and heat sensitive thermochromatic textile.

 Thermochromatic Lamp’s Color Changing Shade by Martin Saemmer

The lamp starts out as a periwinkle color and will slowly change its color to a light pink when the surrounding temperatures rise. If the lamp is switched on the bulbs will emit heat and provoke the lampshade to change color as well.

Martin Saemmer grew up in Munich, Germany and graduated from the University of Art and Design Karlsruhe and is very focused on “the creation of relationships and interactions between objects and their users.”
