Annette Schavan and Wan Gang Have Signed an Agreement Regarding Joint Research

German research minister Annette Schavan and her Chinese counterpart Wan Gang have signed an agreement regarding joint research for highly efficient LED technologies. The Technical University of Darmstadt is one of the pivotal research partners in this context.

Professor Tran Quoc Khanh who oversees the field of lighting technologies at the Darmstadt Technical University has been appointed representative fort he research on biological and health-related effects of light as well as for the project of joint, uniform calibrating of laboratory measurement equipment. In addition he will analyse the results of LED demonstration projects - in street lighting, for example.

The Darmstadt Technical Universities' Lighting Technologies department conducts intensive research on LED-related topics. Among others, it develops solutions for lighting measurement technologies, street lighting, automotive headlights and rear lights as well as for highly efficient interior lighting approaches for low-energy buildings. In addition, the department maintains a team digging into research on the spectral sensitivity of the human eye.
