Audi of America will introduce four new TDI equipped clean diesel models to the US market at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show.
All four models including the A8, A7, A6 and Q5 along with the updated Q7 will be equipped with the 3-liter V6 diesel engines starting from 2013.
The new models equipped with the diesel engine that generates a 240 horsepower with 406 lb.-ft. of torque will have 30% improved fuel economy as well as 30% lower carbon dioxide emissions compared to gasoline engines.
The new A8 TDI is claimed to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds and also offer fuel efficiency of 24 mpg in the city, while 36 mpg on the highway.
Audi of America president Scott Keogh said, "Owners of Audi TDI engines have helped save over 4 million gallons of gasoline, or the equivalent of more than 240,000 barrels of foreign oil, since the introduction of Audi TDI to the US in 2009."
The carmaker is also planning to invest EUR13bn on new products and technologies over the period 2012 through 2016.
