Taiwan's China Steel Corp Delays Its Indian Ngoes Plant Hot Run

Taiwan’s China Steel Corp (CSC) has announced that its Indian non grain oriented electrical steel (NGOES) plant hot run will be delayed to next year.

The NGOES plant is scheduled to produce 200,000 tons of electrical steel per year and the plant is located in the Bharuch district of India’s western Gujarat state.

The hot run will be delayed to the second or third quarter of next year, said a senior CSC official.

The official only mentioned that construction in India is not easy.

CSC is also planning a second phase expansion to build a 1.2 million tpy cold rolling mill and also produce galvanized coils.

The CR mil’s raw materials will be supplied from its Taiwanese works. The electrical steel line raw materials will be from CSC in Taiwan and/or the company’s CR mill in Vietnam. CSC holds a 75% stake in China Steel Corporation India mill.
