Samsung Galaxy S7 Will Filter out Nuisance Callers

Samsung's new flagship phone has a particularly cool little extra feature - it will automatically identify and flag up nuisance callers.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge were announced yesterday at a swanky VR-enabled event in Barcelona.

What we received were essentially perfected versions of last year's Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+. Most of the criticisms of last year's devices were addressed, but there wasn't much genuinely new on display.

One minor feature that could nonetheless make a big difference slipped through the net. Samsung has teamed up with Whitepages to filter out spam callers.

The newly announced partnership will mean that Galaxy S7 owners have previously unknown random callers identified using Whitepages's proprietary data set of some 1.5 billion unique numbers worldwide.

The system will also assess each call and notify you if it thinks it's spam. If one slips through the net, there'll be a spam button for you to easily report the number accordingly.

Finally, Whitepages support will enable S7 owners to search within the dialler for local businesses.

The new service will be available in Samsung Galaxy S7 models in 16 countries. Besides the UK and US, it'll be present in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, and Turkey.
