OKO International Has Begun Offering an Updated Version of an Android-Brand Smart Watch

OKO International, maker of traditional watches under the Android brand, has begun offering an updated version of an Android-brand smart watch through its website at a suggested $299.

The company is also looking for online and brick-and-mortar retailers to sell the product, said sales director Iliana Tegov. OKO already sells traditional watches through online and brick-and-mortar retailers, including Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th stores.

The company, founded in 1991, owns the Android trademark for timepieces, watches, and watch bands, Tegov noted.

OKO unveiled its first smart watch late last year, and with the updated version, the company is adding a dial pad to the onscreen user interface so consumers can dial their Bluetooth-connected Apple or Android phone from the watch itself.

The device, called the Android SmartWatch, will be displayed at the Luxury Tech Show on Tuesday, March 4, in New York City.

The watch uses a proprietary OS to communicate with Android and iOS smartphones, enabling users to make and receive Android and iPhone calls from the watch via the watch’s built-in microphone and speaker. Users can accept or decline calls via the 1.54-inch TFT LCD color touchscreen with 240 by 240 resolution.

The watch also displays text messages sent to Android phones when the phone is loaded with the company’s app.

Other features include control smartphone music playback by clicking next, back, and the like. Music will play back through the watch’s speaker. In fact, the sound from any app will play back through the watch’s speakers, including prompts from GPS navigation apps.

The watch displays time in digital or analog-like form and also features chronograph, calendar, pedometer, calculator, and voice-memo recording.  It charges via MicroUSB and has power for up to four days in sleep mode.

The smart watch is available in six colors, including black or white, with leather straps.
