Swedish Crude Steel Production Amounted to 399,900 Metric Tons

According to the latest data released by the Swedish Steel Producers' Association (Jernkontoret), in April this year Swedish crude steel production amounted to 399,900 metric tons, decreasing by 11.6 percent year on year and up 2.14 percent as compared to March. The country's crude steel output has been declining on year-on-year basis since June 2011.

In the first four months of 2013, Swedish crude steel production totaled 1.5 million mt, with a decrease of 11.5 percent compared to the same period of 2012.

Jernkontoret indicates that Sweden's exports of finished steel, including blooms and billets, in the first quarter amounted to 845,900 mt, down 15.8 percent compared to the same quarter of 2012. Swedish finished steel imports in the first quarter totaled 769,300 mt, down 19.9 percent year on year.
