2014 Accord Plug Is Launched by Honda

Japanese car maker Honda has unveiled new 2014 Accord Plug-in Hybrid Sedan, which will be built in Sayama, Japan.

The new hybrid is powered by the company's two-motor hybrid system and a new Earth Dreams 2.0litre i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine, which is expected to generate an output of 137hp when mated with a 124kW electric motor.

The sedan's electric drive will be supported by a 6.7kWh lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery, which will deliver a total system output of 196hp.

According to the company, the new sedan runs in an all-electric mode for 10 to 15 miles and offers a total driving range over 500 miles.

The new vehicle offers two driving modes, including hybrid vehicle (HV) mode and 'HV Charge' mode.

Honda Accord PHEV will blend the motor power between gasoline and electric while maintaining the battery charge level in "HV" mode and will blend gasoline and electric power while also augmenting the battery charge level in "HV Charge" mode.

Features of the new sedan include an electric servo braking system that offers a natural brake pedal feel, a rearview camera, an expanded-view driver's mirror and LaneWatch blind-spot display.

In addition, the new safety features include Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).
