Hyundai Motor has officially opened the doors to its brand new test centre at the famed Nürburgring in Germany.

The state-of-the-art facility encompasses 3622 square metres over four floors and includes features such as automatic garage doors for quick access and heated driveway ramps.

Construction of Hyundai's Nürburgring test centre began in June 2012 taking just 15 months to complete, although CarAdvice witnessed completion of the first stage of the project back in May this year.

The company's new test centre provides it with a full-time presence at the iconic circuit, allowing cars to be assessed on track then quickly modified to test the effects of different setups and tunes.

The Nürburgring is widely recognised as one of the most challenging circuits in the world, with 73 corners – 33 left and 40 right – spread across 20.8 kilometres of tarmac.

With a difference in height of almost 300 metres between the lowest and highest points, it features uphill and downhill gradients of 11 and 17 per cent respectively.

The track's unusually extensive length also allows Hyundai to develop vehicle durability as well as more effective driving dynamics.
