The Uspto Has Granted a Patent to Apama Medical for Its Low Profi

The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a patent to Apama Medical for its Low Profile Electrodes.

The patent encloses the assemblies with low profile electrode which are to be used on the expandable structures including balloons used in endovascular ablation or other surgical procedures.

Apama Medical founder and CEO Amr Salahieh said that the company is grateful to the NSF SBIR Grant for the funding of this breakthrough technology.

"In addition to this patent, we recently filed provisional patents for dramatic improvements to the catheter that will add significant value to our technology and the approach for treating patients with atrial fibrillation," Salahieh added.

The issuance of the patent now permits the company to develop a product to incorporate ablation, mapping/vision, and irrigation in a single product.
