The Average Price of Lighting-Use LED Is Falling with The Arrival of The Non-Peak Season

The lighting-use LED market will contract 5-16% in the fourth quarter of 2014, while backlighting-use LED products will fall 4-13% according to TrendForce. The average price of lighting-use LED products is falling with the arrival of the non-peak season and as competition intensifies among makers.

Prices have declined across the board in the lighting-use LED market in the fourth quarter due to increasing lighting product inventory. As demand in the 3030 market has gradually fallen, price declines have occurred and the overall market has contracted 16%. 5630 prices have also dropped, but only by 5%. Moreover, prices of backlight-use LED products used in handsets and tablets have dropped by 13%, the firm said.

The global LED lighting market will reach US$25.7 billion and its market penetration will increase to 31% in 2015 as the overall lighting market grows to US$82.1 billion, the firm said.
