CEA Announced That Gopro Founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman Will Deliver The Keynote Address

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today announced that GoPro Founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman will deliver the keynote address at the Leaders in Technology (LIT) Dinner at the upcoming 2015 International CES®. Owned and produced by CEA, the 2015 CES, the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, will run January 6-9, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The LIT Dinner will take place at 6:30 PM Wednesday, January 7, in the Venetian Ballroom at The Venetian. The invitation-only event gathers and honors the top technologists, entrepreneurs and policymakers instrumental in furthering technology innovation. Woodman will share insights from his 12 year entrepreneurial journey and discuss how he took an idea for a versatile camera from a beach in Indonesia to an IPO in 2014. He will also discuss the company’s rise as a media business as large numbers of consumers continue to spend hours consuming bite-sized GoPro videos on YouTube and other social platforms.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Nicholas’ entrepreneurial experience, perseverance, passion and vision keynoting at this year’s Leaders in Technology Dinner,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “GoPro’s cameras are a great example of the power of technology to enhance our lives and provide rich entertainment experiences. We look forward to hearing Nicholas’ vision for the evolution of ‘advertising as entertainment’ and how GoPro video footage is drawing huge audiences to social platforms around the globe.”

Woodman founded GoPro in 2002 when he saw the need to more easily capture, manage and share life’s most meaningful moments. Today GoPro’s highly versatile and gear-mountable cameras are used by millions of consumers, athletes and video production professionals. GoPro continues to develop new innovations in cameras and a wide array of mounting devices for everything from helmets to surfboards and even dog collars.

Woodman joins past LIT Dinner speakers representing innovative, entrepreneurial companies including MakerBot CEO Bre Pettis; Skype CEO Josh Silverman; Huffington Post Co-Founder and Editor-In-Chief Arianna Huffington; Netflix Co-Founder and CEO Reed Hastings; eBay Inc. President and CEO John Donahue; and Pandora Chief Strategy Officer and Founder Tim Westergren.

The Leaders in Technology Program at CES allows high-level public policymakers and technologists to learn from more than 3,500 exhibitors and see thousands of new products that contribute to the $211 billion U.S. consumer electronics industry. The program also provides information and insight to assist officials in evaluating federal policies that affect the consumer technology industry.
