Herma Develops New Packaging Concept for Labellers

Herma has developed a new packaging concept for its labellers for shipping and distributing in an effective manner.

The company designed new standardised cases with die-cut and made-to-measure corrugated inserts for most of its extra-large labelers.

Herma is providing new XL and XXL sizes, in addition to its existing uniform cases.

Last year, the firm started developing new packaging concept for Herma 400 and Herma basic applicators in the last year, as part of its effort to meet increasing demand from the customers.

The case bears will feature a virtual type plate that indicates the serial number of the machine, in addition to Herma logo.

Herma labelling machines division logistics head Hanspeter Rombach said: "It's an extremely useful aid, especially for our customers or partners who receive several boxed machines at the same time.

"Customers can transport the machines internally to the appropriate locations with the protective packaging still intact, and without first unpacking every single case."

The firm also incorporated the drive and base units in the packaging concept. Printed circuit boards, which are sent to customers are shipped in special ESD packaging designed for electronic components and containing an antistatic foam insert.

According to the company, all the cardboard packaging can be re-used and recycled, helping to protect the environment.

Rombach further added: “Using plastic or polystyrene was out of the question for us. We wanted the packaging material to be as easy to recycle as possible, and our concept certainly fits the bill.”
