Wesly Printing & Packaging Invests in New Manroland Press

Netherlands-based Wesly Printing & Packaging has invested in new Manroland Sheetfed press.

The packaging firm introduced a new press last year, a ROLAND 706 EVOLUTION DirectDrive with six printing units, a coating unit and extended delivery.

Operating from Maastricht, Wesly prints a variety of packaging every day that range from cake boxes for supermarkets to trays for the aviation sector.

The new Roland 706 Evolution DirectDrive has replaced the company’s old Roland 706 which had been operating since 2001. Wesly had to hold back on its investment on the new machine due to the financial crisis.

Wesly Printing & Packaging owner and CEO Ron van Gog said: “In 2015 we again focused on options. We looked at three big press manufacturers and did several tests. Manroland Sheetfed was the best for us.

“During Drupa we made the decision and signed the contract. We have a Manroland tradition.

“But that was not the main reason for our choice. The main reasons were the large maximum image area and the very short make-ready time.”

The press purchased by Wesly is 770x1050mm and is the model developed by Manroland Sheetfed to cater to the US market.

Gog says that his company can use the 746mm cutting size now and also have extra area for the control bars of the press.

Wesly presently has the new Manroland Sheetfed R700 Evolution along with the 2008 four-colour R700 press. The measuring system and colour management of the Manroland Sheetfed R700 had to be adjusted by Wesly to accomodate interchangeability with the purchase of Manroland Sheetfed R700 Evolution, stated Manroland Sheetfed.
